Photo Op 21

nikon d3300 12-28-17 610copyAfter the bitter cold of the last two weeks, we have a bit of a warming trend going on. Now I feel like I’m able to share a few winter pics since they won’t make me feel even colder than I was.

This one was on my route one of those bitter cold days when the trees in the mountains froze in such a lovely way.

Before things started getting too cold, I went down to the lake one morning and was pleasantly surprised to find the mist towering off of it in columns. I took a lot of pictures, but these ones impressed me the most. They reminded me of mini tornados. Some of them even towered above the treetops.

None of these pics were photoshopped. They all come straight from the camera.

Photo Op 16

nikon d90 10-26-16 233Surprisingly, this appears to be my first fall photo op post. I say surprisingly not only because of the large number of fall pictures I’ve taken over the years but also because of my lack of photo activity during this fall season.

This tree is always one of my favorites. It’s on my drive home from work every day and I always look forward to the changing of its leaves. It always presents me with one of the most stunning examples of fall fireworks.

For today’s pic I thought I’d go with something more recent. This picture was taken only two weeks ago. I drive past this mountain every day during my morning deliveries.  Thankfully the fog doesn’t burn off until I get to see it.

This is one of the many pictures that make me glad I live where I do. It’s difficult for a picture to convey the beauty and majesty of the mountains, especially clothed in fog and bathed in sunlight like this. It’s a true sight to behold.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Have a great day.

Tuesday Photo Challenge: Woods

As soon as I saw that the theme for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge was going to be Woods, I knew exactly which picture I would use.

I took this picture two miles away from my house. It was a foggy morning, and I was hoping that some of that fog would linger until I arrived with my camera. As luck would have it there was plenty of fog left on this little back road, and I was soon happily snapping away.

I took this picture with a specific purpose. To use for the cover of my short story collection. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it. I darkened it for the book, but this is the original picture. Enjoy.

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Woods

I’m working on it

I’ve only recently begun blogging semi-regularly. So far it’s been interesting finding some of the awesome posts out there, even though I know I’ve only scratched the surface.

The problem lies with my own posts. So far I’ve been posting reviews, excerpts from my book, and a few (hopefully funny) rant posts. The problem is that my blog is called ‘mikesimages’ and to date, I have only posted one of my images (and that turned out to be a dismal failure).

It’s time to turn that around. For years I’ve posted my pictures on Facebook and my friends all said how much they enjoyed them, so I’ll start by sharing them here. I hope you enjoy them as well.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI took this picture years ago, at a lake near my house. I was very lucky with the timing of it. I had just driven through at twilight and was treated to this magnificent sight. The camera I used then was only a small 4 megapixel point and shoot. This picture remains one of my favorites to this day.

If you’d like to see more of my photos, here’s my website.

I hope you enjoyed today’s picture. Have a great day.
